Dr. LaPearl Logan Winfrey, associate dean of Wright State University’s School of Professional Psychology has been named the school’s Interim Dean, effective Aug. 12. She will replace Dr. Larry James, who has been named to a new position as Wright State’s Associate Vice President for Military Affairs.
Currently the chief psychologist of the SOPP’s doctoral internship program, Dr. Winfrey has been involved in doctoral psychology education since 1990. Her work focuses on training and education in professional psychology, with specific attention to the integration of science and practice in developing cultural competency in psychology education and service delivery.
Dr. Winfrey obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oberlin College in Ohio and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is a past president of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP) and served on the American Psychological Association (APA) Committee on Accreditation, as well as the APA Training Advisory Committee of the Minority Fellowship Program. She also has a part-time general clinical practice in Beavercreek.
