Students, staff and faculty to celebrate culture for International Education Week

International Education Week is an opportunity for Wright State students, staff and faculty to celebrate global diversity and to learn about new cultures. Over the coming week, fun and educational events will enhance international awareness as well as demonstrate the importance of exchange programs.

Tuesday, Nov. 13
International Game Night
5:30 p.m. in E190 Student Union (UCIE Office)

Come play multicultural games from around the world with UCIE staff members and students.

Wednesday, Nov. 14
Information Session for Faculty to Teach Abroad
Noon–1:30 p.m. in E190 Student Union (UCIE Office)

Attendees will learn about options on becoming a visiting professor at universities around the world and how to lead a group of students in Wright State’s ambassador programs. Lunch will be provided for all in attendance. RSVP by Friday, Nov. 9, to (937) 775-2020 or joy.wanderi@wright.edu

Thursday, Nov. 15
Boren Study Abroad Scholarships and Fellowships Information Session
11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in E190 Student Union (UCIE Office)

A representative of the Boren Awards will discuss the available undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships. Students studying critical languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese and African Languages) and those who wish to travel the world are encouraged to attend. Pizza will be served.

International Photo Contest Display and Awards Announcements
12:30 p.m. in E190 Student Union (UCIE Office)

International Photo Contest award winners will be announced at this event. Join us in recognizing those who participated and enjoy photos from around the world. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

Friday, Nov. 16
Fulbright Faculty Workshop
9–11 a.m. in 157 Student Union

Learn about lecturing and research opportunities in 150 countries; get advice on which country to apply to and how to make contacts abroad; learn how to prepare the Fulbright application; and explore how you can host visiting foreign Fulbright Scholars. There is no charge for the workshop. Interested faculty and professionals are encouraged to attend. One-on-one meetings can also be set up before and after the workshop. International Education Reception
4–5 p.m. in the Student Union Atrium

The 11th Annual International Education Award will be presented by President David R. Hopkins to a faculty, staff member or group that has lead efforts to internationalize the campus and community.

UCIE Alumni Game Day
7 p.m. in the Wright State Nutter Center

International alumni are invited to join UCIE staff members to cheer on the Wright State basketball team as they play North Carolina. By invitation only.
