Wright State University hosted the 2013 Science Olympiad National Tournament May 17–18. The competition attracted nearly 2,000 high school and middle school students from all 50 states and Japan. Here’s a roundup of some of the news coverage of the event:

Students match wits at Ohio college

Science whiz kids from around the country and as far away as Japan are going brain-to-brain this weekend at Wright State University near Dayton.

There are 120 middle school and high school teams competing in the 29th annual Science Olympiad National Tournament. They advanced from state-level competitions in hands-on and lab events covering science and technology fields from astronomy to robotics.

Solon students win the national Science Olympiad

Solon High School and Solon Middle School students finished in first-place in the national Science Olympiad Tournament for the third year in a row this weekend.

It was the sixth consecutive win for the middle school team, and only the third time in 23 years that a high school and middle school from the same city took the championship.

Science Olympiad brings 5,000 people to Dayton

Thousands have descended on Wright State University this weekend as high school and junior high students compete in science competitions.

The 2013 Science Olympiad National Tournament at Wright State University brought in about 5,000 people, including about 1,500 students in 120 teams from all 50 states and Japan.

Fayetteville-Manlius High School Science Olympiad team places 8th in nationals

The Fayetteville-Manlius High School Science Olympiad team placed 8th in nationals Saturday in Dayton, Ohio.

F-M’s Eagle Hill Middle School placed 10th at nationals which were held at Wright State University.

Valpo, Munster students place in top 20 in national Science Olympiad

Students from Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Valparaiso and Munster High School competed against 118 teams from across the country in Saturday’s Science Olympiad National Tournament.

Munster High School placed 18th, and Thomas Jefferson placed 19th.

The event took place at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Thomas Jefferson and Munster High School students moved on to the national tournament in March after winning at the state competition at Indiana University in Bloomington.
