The lead was just 16-11 after a quarter before the Raiders exploded for 30 points in the second period. Six points from Mackenzie Taylor pushed the margin into double figures and the difference grew to as much as 21 in the final minutes before Wright State went into the halftime break up 46-28.

The Raiders shot 44 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes compared to 32 percent for the Bisons.

Lipscomb cut the deficit to 12 by outscoring the Raiders 23-17 in the third quarter, only to see Wright State pull away in the fourth with a 29-14 period.

The quarter started with Demmings recording a three-point play at the 9:32 mark to tie Jodi Martin’s all-time scoring record of 2,055 points, which she set from 1979-83.

Demmings then set the new mark with 6:24 remaining on a baseline jumper, finishing the game with 27 points, giving her 2,057 points for her career. She is now 246 points away from tying Bill Edwards (1989-93), who holds Wright State’s all-time men’s scoring record with 2,303 points.

The Raiders gradually pulled away down the stretch, holding their biggest lead of the contest as the game ended.

Wright State shot 46 percent from the field in the second half to end up at 45 percent overall while Lipscomb finished at 35 percent. Wright State also connected on 11 of 31 three-point attempts and 42-20 in points in the paint.

Along with Demmings’ 27, four other Raiders finished in double figures as Taylor had 18 off the bench, Symone Simmons 11 off the bench, Emily Vogelpohl 11 and Richelle van der Keijl 10. Van der Keijl posted her third straight double-double as she added 11 rebounds while Symone Denham had eight assists.

Wright State (2-1) continues the three-game homestand on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. against Austin Peay.
