A student at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine interned with a doctor most people may know from TV.

At the end of April, Rod Gerardo of Brecksville, Ohio, a Cleveland suburb, completed an internship with “The Dr. Oz Show” in New York City, according to the university

“The internship was for students interested in public health and TV,” said Gerardo. “’The Dr. Oz Show’ was an opportunity for me to dip my feet into that realm of medicine.”

Gerardo took a year off from medical school to be a medical student producer for “The Dr. Oz Show.” His internship began in August 2016.

He was one of three medical student producers for the show, which is in its eighth season. Gerardo and his colleagues were in the studio three days a week, according to the university.
