Moving forward

Fans flocked to Milano’s restaurant in Beavercreek to cheer on the Wright State women’s basketball team when the Raiders played Texas A&M on March 22 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Raider fans packed the restaurant, including Ron Nischwitz, a former major league baseball player and Wright State baseball head coach. “This is a big thing not only for their year but their whole career,” said Nischwitz.

This was the second time in school history that the women’s basketball team played in the NCAA tournament.

Although the Raiders lost 84-61, fans expressed their pride in the team’s great season. “It was great to have something to celebrate,” said Gina Keucher, program director for student activities. “We are moving on and moving forward, and this is just the start of great things to come.”
