Helping hands

Wright State University volunteers loaded heavy boxes into waiting vehicles during a food distribution event that took place on April 30 in Lot 4.

Thirty Wright State volunteers partnered with With God’s Grace Mobile Food Pantry to distribute food to students and employees in need. More than 600 families and almost 1,600 people received food.

“While people are really struggling a lot of people still have a lot to give,” said Destinee Biesemeyer, associate director of student advocacy and wellness at Wright State.

Biesemeyer said that in April and May, 360 students have applied for food assistance gift cards from the Raider Food Pantry and 462 students have applied for food assistance through the Katie Deedrick Student Support Fund.

“I’m very thankful to Wright State University and all of the volunteers that came out here today,” said Nicole Adkins, executive director of With God’s Grace Mobile Food Pantry.
