Ashley Hall, assistant professor in the Department of English Language and Literatures, received the 2018–19 Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence: Early Career Achievement.

Hall is the co-director of the New Media Incubator, which is a collaborative, welcoming environment for idea generation, learning experiences and growth opportunities where students create physical and digital media projects. It is led by faculty from the Department of Communication and the Department of English Language and Literatures.

Hall is described by her peers as someone who is extremely dedicated to teaching and serving. She helped develop a new certificate in digital media and writing. She has also served as faculty partner for the Student Technology Assistance Center (STAC) in developing 3D printing technology and served as a service-learning partner for an Advanced Social Media Marketing and Branding class in the Department of Communication.

A hard-working, caring individual, Hall is always willing to help students and support them in the pursuit of their dreams. Her innovative spirit has led to more opportunities for students to thrive in the field of digital media.

Hall received her B.A. in foreign languages and literatures and master’s degrees in humanities and English: rhetoric and composition at Old Dominion University and her Ph.D. in English: rhetoric and composition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Prior to joining the Wright State College of Liberal Arts in 2015, Hall was an assistant professor at Alma College in Alma, Michigan.
