{"id":101437,"date":"2021-02-18T08:51:52","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T13:51:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=101437"},"modified":"2024-07-29T11:37:42","modified_gmt":"2024-07-29T15:37:42","slug":"wright-state-women-achievers-celebrated-by-womens-center-during-black-history-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2021\/02\/18\/wright-state-women-achievers-celebrated-by-womens-center-during-black-history-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Wright State women achievers celebrated by Women\u2019s Center during Black History Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A renal physiologist, a minister and leaders in human and auxiliary services are among the Black women making history at Wright State University and being celebrated during Black History Month.<\/p>\n<p>The four women are being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WSUWomensCenter\/\">highlighted by the Wright State Women\u2019s Center<\/a>, which is featuring two faculty and two staff members each week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goals are to demonstrate that there are Black women on our campus doing wonderful things, to highlight inclusivity, and to show students that these women are here on campus if they are ever in need of a reminder of excellence,\u201d said Nicole Carter, director of the Women&#8217;s Center.<\/p>\n<p>The women featured so far include:<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2021\/02\/18\/wright-state-women-achievers-celebrated-by-womens-center-during-black-history-month\/clintoria-williams\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-101449\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-101449\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2021\/02\/Clintoria-Williams.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Clintoria Williams<\/strong>, a renal physiologist, is an assistant professor in the Department of Neuroscience, Cell Biology and Physiology in the Boonshoft School of Medicine and the College of Science and Mathematics. Williams made national and international headlines when her research linking <a href=\"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2019\/07\/18\/physiology-phenom\/\">zinc deficiency to high blood pressure<\/a> was published by the American Journal of Physiology.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2021\/02\/18\/wright-state-women-achievers-celebrated-by-womens-center-during-black-history-month\/kristal-corbitt\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-101453\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-101453\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2021\/02\/Kristal-Corbitt.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Kristal Corbitt<\/strong>, a minister and motivational speaker, works in materials management at Wright State. She is founder of Kami Kares Kommunity, an organization named after her late daughter that has served the community by donating meals to those in need.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2021\/02\/18\/wright-state-women-achievers-celebrated-by-womens-center-during-black-history-month\/leslie-neyland-brown\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-101457\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-101457\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2021\/02\/Leslie-Neyland-Brown.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Leslie Neyland-Brown<\/strong> is associate professor and assistant chair of the Department of Human Services in the College of Education and Human Services and program director of the Master of Education in School Counseling Program.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2021\/02\/18\/wright-state-women-achievers-celebrated-by-womens-center-during-black-history-month\/radford-debra\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-101461\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-101461 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2021\/02\/Radford-Debra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Debra Radford<\/strong> is director of auxiliary services at Wright State.
