Ann Stalter, Ph.D., professor of nursing at Wright State University, is co-recipient of a prestigious national nursing award for her contributions to the quality and safety of health care.<\/p>\n

Stalter and Janet Nice, director of the RN to BSN Degree Completion Option at the Indiana School of Nursing, are the 2021 recipients of the Jane Barnsteiner and Joann Disch Innovation Award from the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN).<\/p>\n

QSEN addresses the challenge of preparing future nurses with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to continuously improve the quality and safety of health care systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn nursing education circles this a huge honor,\u201d said Stalter.<\/p>\n

The award is given to academic or clinical leaders who exemplify innovation in patient-centered care, teamwork, quality improvement, safety, research and in developing future innovators. It is named in honor of Jane Barnsteiner, a nurse educator and practitioner, and clinical leader Joanne Disch, founders of the QSEN project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis award honors your dedication and contributions to quality and safety and to the QSEN mission,\u201d Mary Dolansky, QSEN director, wrote in an email to Stalter and Nice. \u201cYour collaborative work has led to important advances in spreading the QSEN competencies in both education and practice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The award will be presented June 2 during QSEN\u2019s virtual conference.<\/p>\n

The Wright State College of Nursing and Health<\/a> was one of 15 QSEN pilot schools. In 2007, Stalter was a dean-appointed delegate for Wright State.<\/p>\n

Stalter earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing, a master\u2019s degree in nursing administration and a master\u2019s degree in education technology-health professions from Wright State and a Ph.D. in public health nursing from The Ohio State University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
