Three Wright State University student filmmakers have won highly competitive cinematography grants that will help in the production of their thesis films.<\/p>\n

The LEE Filters product grants, totaling $2,600, were awarded to Christopher Bollinger of Dayton, Joseph “Harris” Norton of Bellbrook and Marvin Watts of Cleveland. The seniors are cinematography specialists in the Motion Pictures Program<\/a> in the College of Liberal Arts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The LEE Filters Education Assistance Program (LEAP) offers the grants to student filmmakers, focusing on schools that offer the most demanding and comprehensive curriculums in lighting and cinematography.<\/p>\n

Only six LEE Filters product grants are awarded nationwide each month. They often go to students at larger universities like the University of Southern California, New York University and the American Film Institute.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe LEAP product grants will give the cinematographers much more control over their lighting environments, from correcting tint in fluorescent settings to achieving the desired color of light, allowing them to be more effective in telling their story visually,\u201d said Jeremy Bolden, instructor of motion picture production at Wright State.<\/p>\n

LEE Filters is a manufacturer of color filters and color gels for the entertainment lighting, film and photography industries.<\/p>\n

The Wright State students are each serving as cinematographer on three thesis films by Wright State motion picture students.<\/p>\n

Watts is cinematographer for \u201cAnd Be Happy,\u201d directed by Brendan Borden; \u201cConveyor,\u201d directed by Joseph Larkin; and \u201cNormal Norman,\u201d directed by Derek Szklany.<\/p>\n

Bollinger is cinematographer for \u201cBlue Rock Cracking,\u201d directed by Adam McVay; \u201cA Light from Somewhere Else,\u201d directed by Jeff Levack; and \u201cPomegranate,\u201d directed by Noah Howard.<\/p>\n

Norton is cinematographer for \u201cStow Away,\u201d directed by Benjamin Hollinger; \u201cNorseman,\u201d directed by Christopher Wagner-Lee; and \u201cMore than Words,\u201d directed by Nathan Schubert.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
