Over a dozen first-year students participated in the third annual Raider Camp at Wright State University. The camp is a two-and-a-half day on-campus outdoor adventure college-prep experience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to lie, Raider Camp set the bar pretty high,\u201d said Sage Calhoun, a freshman nursing major. \u201cRaider Camp taught me more about what it would take for me to become a leader of an organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI\u2019ve really enjoyed the people that I\u2019ve met and I think it was worth my while,\u201d said Allan Wheelock, a freshman majoring in computer engineering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The camp assisted 15 first-year students to get to know their classmates and helped prepare them for college life. The students developed their critical thinking skills and goal setting while working together as a team to reach a common purpose.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The experience was full of leadership opportunities led by Student Involvement and Leadership<\/a> staff, presenters from across Wright State, and current student leaders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The goal of Raider Camp is to inspire first-year students to remain engaged on campus, improving their retention to the next semester and though their college career and graduation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Raider Camp participants were not charged to attend thanks to a grant from AT&T. The camp took place on Aug. 17 through Aug. 19.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
