All artists dream of hanging their work in a gallery, of hosting an opening for patrons and admirers. Well, every year the seniors in Wright State University\u2019s fine arts program have a chance to do just that during the annual senior show.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s our opportunity to show the best of what we\u2019ve done during our time at Wright State,\u201d said Megan Dooley-Smallwood, a senior art student concentrating in sculpture.<\/p>\n
But hosting and publicizing the senior show is not an inexpensive proposition. To raise funds for the event, the senior class holds the Senior Arts Auction, donating pieces of their own work as auction items.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe students do a really good job of getting work together, organizing and putting it out there, \u201c said Ben Montague, the faculty organizer for the auction and the senior show. \u201cI always go and buy some work for my own private collection.\u201d<\/p>\n
The auction is mainly organized by students, who create, collect and file the donations. They also seek donations from area businesses.<\/p>\n
Items will be available to bid on and purchase outright. Prices range from a few dollars to as much as bidders want to spend.<\/p>\n
Proceeds from the auction go to create posters and fliers for the senior show, purchase refreshments and maybe to hire a live band for the opening.<\/p>\n
The auction will take place on Friday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Atrium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
