One of the world\u2019s premier virtuoso performers on the xylophone and marimba, Bob Becker, will perform at Wright State on April 2.<\/p><\/div>\n

Internationally known percussionist Bob Becker will perform Monday, April 2, at Wright State University. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the newly renovated Schuster Hall of the Creative Arts Center on Wright State\u2019s Dayton campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cBob Becker is one of the world\u2019s most well-know and respected percussionists\u2014a true master of drumming,\u201d said Wright State percussion instructor Gerald Noble.\u00a0\u201cHe is a pioneer in our industry and has inspired generations of percussionists.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the concert, Becker will perform with Noble, students in the Wright State Percussion Ensemble, and several guest artists from universities and symphonies around the Midwest.<\/p>\n

\u201cHosting Bob Becker brings much recognition to Wright State percussion and is quite an honor for both myself and my students,\u201d Noble said.<\/p>\n

Considered to be one of the world\u2019s premier virtuoso performers on the xylophone and marimba, Bob Becker appears regularly as an independent solo artist and clinician. In particular, his work toward resurrecting the repertoire and performance styles of early 20th century xylophone music has been recognized internationally.<\/p>\n

He is a founding member of the percussion group NEXUS, has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.<\/p>\n

Becker has recorded and toured with the Grammy Award\u2013winning Steve Reich and Musicians. He has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and has recorded over 25 CDs.<\/p>\n

The performance is presented by the Wright State Department of Music as part of its annual Artist Series.<\/p>\n
