The Wright State University Black Student Union celebrated Black excellence at the Heritage Ball, a formal event held in the Student Union Apollo Room on Feb. 26.<\/p>\n
The sold-out ball was free to students and included dinner, performances, awards, music and dancing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all about the unity,\u201d said Gary Neal, a sophomore mechanical engineering major who is president of the Black Student Union. \u201cWe don\u2019t take any money from this. We throw this for the campus.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the ball, several students were presented with awards: Alumni Award, Aaron Stokes; Presidents Award, Gary Neal; Freshman of the Year, Wayne Duncan; Organization of the Year, African American Residential Caucus; Black Women Rock, Charlee McLemore; Do What You Say You\u2019re Going to Do, Rufaro Bulathsinghalage; Man of His Word, Joshua Johnson; Recognition Award, National Pan-Hellenic Council; and Entrepreneur of the Year, Precious Wallace.<\/p>\n
Four students were named to the Heritage Ball Royalty Court: King, Dorian Buford; Queen, Precious Wallace; Prince, Wayne Duncan; and Princess, Ravionna Stewert.<\/p>\n
