Wright State was once again recognized for its military-friendly service with a Military Friendly Bronze Award.<\/p><\/div>\n

Wright State University has again won a \u201cmilitary friendly\u201d bronze award designation, the university said this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bronze award means that Wright State is within the top third of military-friendly schools,\u201d the university said, noting that in 2021, more than 1,200 colleges participated in a survey on \u201cmilitary-friendly\u201d attributes, with about 750 institutions earning the designation, according to the\u00a0Military Friendly website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s nice to get the designation, it\u2019s better to be a point of contact for student veterans and provide support,\u201d said Seth Gordon, director of Wright State\u2019s Veteran and Military Center (VMC). \u201cI\u2019m really grateful for our designation as military friendly. I\u2019m much more grateful for the work we do every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

This week, Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner said Ohio was working to create a \u201cCollegiate Purple Star\u201d designation.<\/p>\n

The Collegiate Purple Star will recognize public and independent colleges and universities in Ohio that are \u201csupportive and inclusive of military-connected students,\u201d the state said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe are always developing ways for Ohio to become the best place for military members and their families to live, work, and raise a family,\u201d said Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. \u201cPurple Star Schools are great examples of how Ohioans can come together to support, encourage, and recognize the sacrifices our service men and women and their loved ones make.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

Wright State said it facilitates priority registration for veterans and active-duty students and advocates for veterans and active-duty students to assist \u201cin resolving any issues that may arise for students throughout their career at Wright State.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to make sure the student veterans are having their needs met and our students feel satisfied,\u201d Gordon said.<\/p>\n

The designation is sponsored by Victory Media, a company that focuses on working with military publications including the Military Times news organization.<\/p>\n
