Wright State University celebrated the installation of a new multicultural sorority chapter, Kappa Phi Lambda, during a special event on April 15 in the Student Union Atrium.<\/p>\n
Around 100 people including representatives of other Greek organizations at Wright State watched nine new charter members introduce themselves to the campus community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the first time that we\u2019ve brought in a multicultural sorority,\u201d said Gina Keucher, program director for Student Involvement and Leadership<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority is an Asian interest, but not Asian exclusive organization, dedicated to providing service, promoting academic excellence and raising cultural awareness on college campuses.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been a wild ride,\u201d said Kate Jones, a senior majoring in media studies and new Kappa Phi Lambda member. \u201cWe\u2019ve worked really hard to get here so I\u2019m really proud of all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n As a member of ACE-Advocates for Cultural Diversity and Excellence, Jones and other students chose to charter Kappa Phi Lambda because of its dedication to sisterhood, service and cultural diversity. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the sorority installment, which began in 2018.<\/p>\n Keucher said that many students are trying to find their place at Wright State. \u201cThis gives especially students from different cultures a place where they find their home,\u201d said Keucher.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Wright State celebrated the installation of a new multicultural sorority chapter, Kappa Phi Lambda, during a special event in the Student Union Atrium.
