Joey Monda is nominated for a Tony Award for the Best New Musical as a producer of \u201cA Strange Loop.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

Wright State University musical theatre<\/a> graduate Joey Monda has once again been nominated for a Tony Award.<\/p>\n

Monda, the producer and owner of Sing Out Louise! Productions, is nominated as a producer of \u201cA Strange Loop,\u201d which was nominated for Best New Musical. \u201cA Strange Loop\u201d earned 11 total nominations, the most of any show.<\/p>\n

The 75th annual Tony Awards ceremony will be held on June 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Strange Loop,\u201d which was written by Michael R. Jackson, has already won the Pulitzer Prize in drama.<\/p>\n

Monda won Tony Awards in 2021 as a producer of “The Inheritance,” which was named Best Play, and in 2019 for “Hadestown,” which was named Best Musical.<\/p>\n

Monda was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play as the producer of “Slave Play” in 2021. He has also produced the successful Broadway shows \u201cAllegiance,\u201d \u201cThe New One\u201d and \u201cMrs. Doubtfire.\u201d<\/p>\n

He has also developed innovative contracts and structures to film and release Broadway shows for Cineplex release and pay-per-view showings, making live theatre available to more viewers. His production company has brought “Allegiance,” “Bandstand” and “Kinky Boots” from the stage to the screen.<\/p>\n

Monda earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre<\/a> in 2012 from Wright State. In 2020, he received the Graduate of the Last Decade Award from the Wright State Alumni Association.<\/p>\n

In addition, Law Dunford, who earned a B.F.A. in acting<\/a> from Wright State in 2015, had multiple roles as an understudy and swing performer in the jukebox musical \u201cGirl From the North Country,\u201d which received seven Tony nominations, including Best Musical.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
