{"id":130401,"date":"2022-09-29T14:02:49","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T18:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=130401"},"modified":"2024-09-16T13:23:49","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T17:23:49","slug":"an-invaluable-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2022\/09\/29\/an-invaluable-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"An invaluable experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Screams for help and sounds of a responding medical helicopter filled the air during a live training exercise at Wright State University\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/calamityville\">Calamityville<\/a>\u00a0on Sept. 26-27.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dozens of nursing students from <a href=\"https:\/\/health-education-human-services.wright.edu\/nursing-kinesiology-and-health-sciences\">Wright State University\u2019s School of Nursing, Kinesiology and Health Sciences<\/a> students and Indiana University East and medical professionals participated in an Advanced Disaster Life Support training.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere\u2019s really no better way to prepare for a disaster than to see it come to life, and that\u2019s what they\u2019re doing here,\u201d said Anna Baugham, a senior Wright State <a href=\"https:\/\/health-education-human-services.wright.edu\/nursing\">nursing major<\/a>. \u201cThis is an invaluable experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Almost 60 students participated in the real-life disaster situations, which included a bomb explosion and a structural collapse during the two-day exercise.
