{"id":133049,"date":"2022-11-22T09:56:42","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T14:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=133049"},"modified":"2022-11-22T09:56:42","modified_gmt":"2022-11-22T14:56:42","slug":"cops-stock-campus-pantry-just-in-time-for-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2022\/11\/22\/cops-stock-campus-pantry-just-in-time-for-holidays\/","title":{"rendered":"Cops stock campus pantry just in time for holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>For the fourth consecutive year, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/police\">Wright State University Police Department<\/a>\u00a0participated in No-Shave November in a fundraising effort that benefited the Raider Food Pantry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>On Nov. 21, officers filled their police cruisers with items purchased from Sam\u2019s Club in Beavercreek, then donated to the pantry almost $1,600 of nonperishable goods including chicken noodle soup, cereal, peanut butter crackers and much-needed bottled water.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThis year we had the entire department involved,\u201d said Kurt Holden, director of public safety. \u201cAnswering the need in our community is what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Over the last three years the department has donated about $4,800 in groceries to the Raider Food Pantry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>This year, cheers and laughter also filled the University Hall Atrium when Wright State administrators and staff watched three colleagues have their heads shaved to raise additional funds for the Raider Food Pantry too.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cMyself, Daniel Palmer and Burhan Kawosa were selected to get our heads buzzed,\u201d said Holden. \u201cWe raised over $5,000 additional dollars to help support the foodbank.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Raider Food Pantry managers said they serve around 40 students a week.
