The Wright State University Student Union Apollo Room was converted into an intergalactic battlefield on Feb. 3 for the first “Star Wars” game.<\/p>\n
Over 70 students participated in a \u201ccapture-the-flag-style game\u201d that was hosted by the Astronomical Collaborations Club at Wright State. Participants used foam lightsabers to tag opponents while flashing lights and \u201cStar Wars\u201d music helped students feel like they had been transported to a galaxy far, far away.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a lot of fun,\u201d said Rahul Shah, a senior biological sciences major who met new friends on the battlefield. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t have met them if I didn\u2019t come to this event.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brad Kerry, a graduate social and applied economics<\/a> student, helped plan the event. He said it was a priority for his club to make the game open to all students. \u201cWe tried very hard to make this accessible to everyone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Organizers asked participants to donate nonperishable food items for the Raider Food Pantry to play in the game.<\/p>\n Kerry said he hopes the Astronomical Collaboration Club will continue the game in the spring and hopefully make it an annual campus event.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are focused on creating a really cool place for everyone to hang out,\u201d said Kerry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Wright State Student Union Apollo Room was converted into an intergalactic battlefield for a game of “Star Wars” capture-the-flag.
