The night will showcase orchestra, dance, vocal, and live art creation performances among others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"1\">Features this year include:<\/p>\n<div class=\"list b-margin-bottom-d40-m20\">\n<ul>\n<li>Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble performances<\/li>\n<li>Bella Voce!: a celebration of opera and song<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEn blanc et noir\u201d: Student performances of chamber music and solo selections<\/li>\n<li>Burt Bacharach Celebration: A song and dance revue of Bacharach\u2019s hits<\/li>\n<li>The Dance Experience: featuring original student choreography<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Mystery of Twicknam Vicarage\u201d: A murder mystery experience by David Ives<\/li>\n<li>Planet MoPix Attacks!: A throwback special FX sequence that honors the 1950s science fiction<\/li>\n<li>\u201cRing of Fire\u201d: A musical revue highlighting the music of Johnny Cash<\/li>\n<li>Selections from Wright State Theatre\u2019s production of \u201cOn the Town\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Top-quality wine, craft beer and bourbon<\/li>\n<li>Sports lounge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_136412\" style=\"width: 470px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2023\/03\/21\/24th-annual-artsgala-celebrates-wright-states-fine-and-performing-arts-students\/62532_061\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-136412\" class=\"wp-image-136412 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2023\/03\/62532_061-508x339.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"307\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-136412\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Presented by the College of Liberal Arts, ArtsGala will feature more than 400 student performers in 12 unique performances, including selections from &#8220;On the Town,&#8221; Wright State Theatre&#8217;s spring musical.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cDepending on what you like as an audience member, you\u2019re going to find something that will entertain you,\u201d Foley said. \u201cThere\u2019s just something for any art lover. There\u2019s going to be something that will entertain you and excite you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Foley stepped into her role at the university a few months ago. She said she has been very busy arranging her first ArtsGala as coordinator but considers herself lucky to be a part of such a valued event with a long tradition at Wright State. It\u2019s those traditions that have helped her transition into her new role along with assistance from event staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"9\">While Foley said the evening is packed with performances, she also emphasized the importance of the event\u2019s fundraising efforts for student arts scholarships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"10\">\u201cIt\u2019s a very entertaining evening as well as a celebration of the students and also an opportunity for us to raise funds for them,\u201d Foley said. \u201cSo people can come in and just enjoy the performances, but it\u2019s really for that very special cause of supporting our students.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_136754\" style=\"width: 270px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2023\/03\/27\/dayton-com-wright-states-artsgala-plans-to-entertain-excite-patrons-in-support-of-student-scholarships\/screen-shot-2023-03-27-at-10-46-57-am\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-136754\" class=\"wp-image-136754 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2023\/03\/Screen-Shot-2023-03-27-at-10.46.57-AM-260x281.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-136754\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zavi Odetta is a recipient of an ArtsGala scholarship and will be performing at this year&#8217;s event.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"12\">Zavi Odetta, a fifth-year acting major at WSU, was the recipient of two of the scholarships funded by the ArtsGala. They performed \u201cCome Woo Me, Woo Me,\u201d an adaptation of a Shakespeare play, with classmates at last year\u2019s gala.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"13\">\u201cReceiving this scholarship means more than you know,\u201d Odetta said. \u201cAfter spending five years here, I heavily relied on any and every scholarship I could get. Being the recipient of not one but two ArtsGala Scholarships granted me the opportunity to continue studying the subjects that bring me the most joy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"15\">This time around, the students will perform a whodunit called \u201cThe Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage\u201d they said is \u201cguaranteed to make you laugh until your sides hurt.\u201d Odetta said they are thrilled to be apart of the event again. They said it means a lot to be able to pay forward the educational opportunities the ArtsGala scholarships gave them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"16\">\u201cIt gave me the opportunity to complete my final year here at Wright State, and it allows me to give back to a community that has given so much to me,\u201d Odetta said. \u201cI am so excited to be participating in ArtsGala for a second year. To be able to meet and thank our donors before I graduate is one of the biggest gifts I could ask for!\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_136758\" style=\"width: 233px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2023\/03\/27\/dayton-com-wright-states-artsgala-plans-to-entertain-excite-patrons-in-support-of-student-scholarships\/screen-shot-2023-03-27-at-10-48-24-am\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-136758\" class=\"wp-image-136758 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2023\/03\/Screen-Shot-2023-03-27-at-10.48.24-AM-223x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-136758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Selvin Bacon is an involved senior at Wright State and will be volunteering at the ArtsGala to give back to the arts community.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"18\">Selvin Bacon, a senior fine arts major, was an event photographer for the gala in 2022, and this year he\u2019ll be volunteering as a gallery monitor. He said he hopes to network with Dayton community members who are invested in the arts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"19\">\u201cI hope that they\u2019re able to enjoy this event and (be) able to communicate and talk to students considering students are the main reason (for) this event,\u201d Bacon said. \u201cI just want to encourage people that attend to network with students considering it\u2019s also ideal for students to talk to these people considering they know a thing or two about the arts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"21\">Bacon received a scholarship from the event that help support his perusal of a degree. He recognized there can be stigmas around arts degrees, but Bacon said the ArtsGala helped him realize people in the Dayton community care about the arts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"22\">\u201cKnowing that there\u2019s people that support the arts is very enlightening,\u201d Bacon said. \u201cI just feel very grateful that people do want to see us succeed, and it encourages me to push beyond. One of the most reasons why I became heavily involved in this is so I could give back to the community the same way the community has given back to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"23\">Tickets for the ArtsGala are still available to purchase and ticket sales contribute to supporting student scholarships for fine and preforming arts.
