There\u2019s something special about receiving a handwritten postcard. And there\u2019s really something special about receiving a postcard from someone you\u2019ve never met.<\/p>\n
Wright State University\u2019s Staff Senate<\/a> hosted Lunch and Letters, a chance for staff members from around campus to gather during their lunch breaks and write postcards welcoming new Raiders to the Wright State family.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe they will remember our name,\u201d said Eric Corbitt, director of the Student Union and Campus Recreation. \u201cHopefully, they won\u2019t remember us for our bad handwriting, and they will recognize a name or two and we can help out.\u201d<\/p>\n Natali Smith graduated with a bachelor\u2019s degree in 2022 and now works as an admissions recruiter in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions<\/a>. She knew she had made the right choice for college when, as an admitted student, she received a handwritten card in the mail from Wright State.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was really exciting to see a postcard addressed to your name,\u201d said Smith. \u201cIt\u2019s more welcoming because the school is taking the time to reach out to you personally.\u201d<\/p>\n The social writing event took place on April 18 and April 19 in the Student Union Atrium. Staff Senate provided the pens, envelopes and postcards, and staff members provide the encouraging words.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s good to get together with folks that we don\u2019t see every day and maybe don\u2019t get to work with every day and do something good for the university and our students at the same time,\u201d said Corbitt.<\/p>\n Those who would like to fill out postcards for admitted students but were unable to attend can still sign up for the postcard-writing campaign<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Staff members got together during their lunch breaks to write postcards welcoming new Raiders to the Wright State family.
