Armed with green pom-poms, Raider cheerleaders lined the entrance of the Student Union and greeted hundreds of future Wright State University students and their families like they were college basketball players, all in an effort to welcome them to Wright State University\u2019s annual Signing Day May 2.<\/p>\n
With plentiful snacks, free T-shirts, music, frisbees and souvenir photos on hand, new students walked away with signed certificates making them official Raiders. The event was a great opportunity for incoming students to meet with classmates, faculty and staff and build relationships for the next academic year.<\/p>\n
The Student Union Apollo Room and Atrium teemed with new students, many of them taking selfies to record the milestone in their lives and post them on social media. Colleges, departments and clubs staffed information tables. Deans floated around the room, interacting with students and parents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to welcome all of our future Raiders to campus,\u201d said Jen McCamis, assistant vice president of\u00a0undergraduate admissions<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity for students to sign the letter to just feel empowered to make that decision.\u201d<\/p>\n Incoming student Cooper Cole, a senior at Franklin High School, is the first person in his family to attend college and hopes to snag a great internship while attending Wright State.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to a couple of internships at Wright-Patt,\u201d said Cole.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Raider cheerleaders greeted hundreds of future students and their families like they were college basketball players, all in an effort to welcome them during Wright State’s annual Signing Day.
