{"id":149227,"date":"2024-04-10T12:28:39","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T16:28:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=149227"},"modified":"2024-04-10T12:28:39","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T16:28:39","slug":"dayton-business-journal-wright-state-university-names-new-dean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/04\/10\/dayton-business-journal-wright-state-university-names-new-dean\/","title":{"rendered":"Dayton Business Journal: Wright State University names new dean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_149080\" style=\"width: 270px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-149080\" class=\"wp-image-149080 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2024\/04\/subhashini-ganapathy-3-260x294.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"294\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-149080\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Subhashini Ganapathy, PhD., professor and dean of the College of Graduate Programs and Honors Studies<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p2\">Wright State has appointed Subhashini Ganapathy as dean of the College of Graduate Programs and Honors Studies.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Ganapathy, professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical, Industrial, and Human Factors Engineering, will start the new role effective May 1.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She will replace interim Dean Shu Schiller, <span class=\"s1\">who left Wright State last month <\/span>for a position at University of Missouri \u2014 St. Louis.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Associate Dean Paula Bubulya has agreed to serve as the college\u2019s acting dean from April 1 to 30.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cI look forward to working with Dr. Ganapathy and Dr. Bubulya to elevate the visibility of our graduate and honors programs, increase enrollment, and ensure student success,\u201d said Wright State Provost Amy Thompson. \u201cAs a university leader, Dr. Ganapathy has guided efforts to enhance student engagement and achievement, build internal and external coalitions, and advocate for graduate and honors excellence.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">As dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Honors Program, Ganapathy said, she will champion a student-first approach by creating an academic experience underscored by compelling curriculum and training opportunities; being relevant to regional and national workforce needs; and maintaining accreditation and high-quality academic programs, according to a release.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cWith a deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of education and an unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive excellence,\u201d Ganapathy said, \u201cI am eager to contribute to Wright State University\u2019s mission of academic innovation and student success.\u201d<span class=\"s1\">4\/10\/24, 11:09 AM Wright State University names new graduate school dean &#8211; Dayton Business Journal https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/dayton\/news\/2024\/04\/08\/large-dayton-university-names-new-dean.html 3\/4<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cAs dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Honors Program, my vision is to create an environment that celebrates the richness of diverse perspectives, backgrounds and experiences and fosters a sense of belonging and mutual respect among all members of our community,\u201d she said.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Ganapathy has served as chair of the Department of Biomedical, Industrial, and Human Factors Engineering since 2020.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She is also chair of Wright State\u2019s Intel Initiative, the university\u2019s effort to support the Intel Corporation\u2019s relationship with Ohio colleges and universities, and president of the Faculty Senate.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Her areas of research include integrating technology to improve human performance, health and wellness, design thinking, user-experience assessment, and human factors engineering, according to a release.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She joined Wright State\u2019s College of Engineering and Computer Science in 2011 after working as a senior user experience researcher at the Intel Corporation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She received a 2014 Faculty Award for Excellence in Early Career Achievement from Wright State, the Outstanding Engineers\u2019 and Scientists\u2019 Award from the Affiliate Societies Council in Dayton, an Excellence in Teaching Award from SOCHE, and a Microsoft Azure Research Award.
