Wright State Research Institute has purchased the former Science Applications International Corp. building for $1.8 million and will consolidate most of its employees there starting Sept. 1, officials said.<\/p>\n
The research arm of Wright State University has grown from two to 65 employees since it was founded in 2007, and plans to add another 50 jobs over the next two years, said Director Ryan Fendley. The institute\u2019s research portfolio doubled to $20 million for fiscal year 2012 from $10 million in fiscal 2011.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are relocating to a building that will accommodate our future growth,\u201d Fendley said. \u201cIt is ideally located in that it keeps us close to Wright State University and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and our client base.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Wright State Applied Research Corp., the institute\u2019s non-profit contracting arm, purchased the building at 4035 Colonel Glenn Highway from Campus Point Realty, the real estate subsidiary of SAIC. The institute took possession of the 34,000-square-foot building on July 15.<\/p>\n
