{"id":153554,"date":"2024-09-18T09:40:44","date_gmt":"2024-09-18T13:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=153554"},"modified":"2024-09-18T09:40:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-18T13:40:44","slug":"dayton-daily-news-wright-state-sees-enrollment-continue-to-climb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/09\/18\/dayton-daily-news-wright-state-sees-enrollment-continue-to-climb\/","title":{"rendered":"Dayton Daily News: Wright State sees enrollment continue to climb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/09\/18\/dayton-daily-news-wright-state-sees-enrollment-continue-to-climb\/clap-in-70607_233\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-153561\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-153561\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2024\/09\/Clap-In-70607_233-508x339.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"307\" \/><\/a>Excerpt<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wright State\u2019s enrollment has increased nearly 10% since 2022 and its president cited the work by the university to reduce students barriers to attend as a reason for the growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe colleges, the faculty and the staff, the amount of work behind this is phenomenal,\u201d said Sue Edwards, Wright State\u2019s president.<\/p>\n<p>Enrollment for first-time, graduate and transfer students are up this year and retention levels were up 5.6%, leading to a 7% increase in enrollment compared to the fall 2023 semester.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also the third consecutive year that the number of first-time, first-year students increased at the university.<\/p>\n<p>Edwards said the work of student success coaches, the financial aid office and advisers to remove barriers to the students has helped the university.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the total enrollment is 11,822 students, a 9.5% increase over fall 2022 enrollment.<\/p>\n<p>Susan Schaurer, WSU vice president for enrollment management, noted 363 of the more than 2,000 new first-time students are planning to major in nursing, an in-demand field of work in Ohio.
