Wright State University hosted a Study Abroad Fair for students on Sept. 18 in the Student Union Atrium.<\/p>\n
The fair was an excellent opportunity for students to learn about studying abroad in over 40 different countries, meet program leaders, learn about scholarships, play games and enjoy free food.<\/p>\n
The number of students studying abroad has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic, said Joy Wanderi, associate director of the University Center for International Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cRight now, we are at 250 to 300 students participating in study abroad, but we are hoping to increase it to 400,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Wanderi said interest in studying abroad isn\u2019t just limited to domestic students.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are getting a lot more international students asking us to go abroad, which is really cool,\u201d said Wanderi.<\/p>\n \u201cGermany is really good for engineering so I might go there,\u201d said Yug Thakkar, a first-year international student majoring in industrial and systems engineering.<\/p>\n Three types of study abroad programs are available to students at Wright State. Ambassador Programs are led by Wright State faculty and can last between one and four weeks. Exchange Programs allow students to partner with another institution for the summer or an entire year.
