international education.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Wright State University students can paint pumpkins, learn about resources to support their well-being, explore anime and celebrate D\u00eda de los Muertos and a Hindu holiday during International Education Week, Nov. 1\u20138.<\/p>\n<p>International Education Week is organized by Wright State\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/international-education\">University Center for International Education<\/a> as part of a national effort by the U.S. Departments of State and Education.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_155170\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/11\/01\/wright-state-to-celebrate-international-education-and-and-study-abroad-opportunities-nov-1-8\/70411-jeremy-miller-resident-assistants-8-14-24\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-155170\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-155170\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-155170\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mani Chintakunta is a computer science graduate student at Wright State.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cInternational Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide,\u201d said Michelle Streeter-Ferrari, director of the University Center for International Education. \u201cThe week of events celebrates Wright State\u2019s efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over 1,600 international students from 67 countries enrolled at Wright State this fall, with the largest intake of new international students this fall in Wright State&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur largest intake of new international students on campus has been undergraduate students, which has really enriched our campus community and life,\u201d Streeter-Ferrari said.<\/p>\n<p>The University Center for International Education has supported students who participate in the study abroad program by offering a $500 scholarship to each participant this year.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_155175\" style=\"width: 270px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/11\/01\/wright-state-to-celebrate-international-education-and-and-study-abroad-opportunities-nov-1-8\/12399-monica-snow-dr-kendall-goodrich-teaching-in-class-10-1-13-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-155175\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-155175\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-155175\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kendall Goodrich is chair of the School of Supply Chain Management, Marketing and Management.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The University Center for International Education will honor the recipients of the 2024 International Education Awards at the International Education Reception on Nov. 7:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Global Citizen Award: Mani Sankar Chintakunta<\/strong>, a computer science graduate student who has helped enhance the experiences of students, faculty and staff while demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and support. Chintakunta has worked in the offices of the Department of Biological Sciences and the University Center for International Education and serves as a resident assistant in campus housing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>International Student Advocate Award: Kendall Goodrich<\/strong>, Ph.D., professor of marketing and chair of the School of Supply Chain Management, Marketing and Management. Goodrich is known for his support of international students and faculty members who teach and participate in research abroad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Goodrich has been a very strong international education advocate who has supported faculty and students,\u201d said Wakiuru Wamwara, Ph.D., professor of marketing. \u201cHis care, counseling and support of our international students, programs and faculty are exceptional.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_155172\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/11\/01\/wright-state-to-celebrate-international-education-and-and-study-abroad-opportunities-nov-1-8\/18919-jill-puthoff-lake-campus-staff-4-17-17\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-155172\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-155172\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-155172\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2024\/11\/Dane-Daniel_042__4-17-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-155172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dane Thor Daniel is a professor of history at the Lake Campus.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>International Education Award: Dane Thor Daniel<\/strong>, Ph.D., professor of history at the Lake Campus. Dane was honored for his excellent contributions to international education for underrepresented students at the Lake campus. Over the last decade, he has led numerous international educational trips, promoting global learning and cross-cultural understanding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents at Lake Campus from various backgrounds took such opportunities to learn foreign languages, to enjoy different cultures and to promote American culture during the interaction with international peers,\u201d said Weisong Wang, Ph.D., associate professor of electrical engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel is the founder and chair of the International Education Committee at Lake Campus.
