{"id":156810,"date":"2025-02-07T09:32:03","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T14:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=156810"},"modified":"2025-02-07T09:36:56","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T14:36:56","slug":"new-career-hub-offers-centralized-professional-services-for-wright-state-students-and-alumni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2025\/02\/07\/new-career-hub-offers-centralized-professional-services-for-wright-state-students-and-alumni\/","title":{"rendered":"New Career Hub offers centralized professional services for Wright State students and alumni"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wright State University students and alumni can now receive career advice, prepare for interviews, meet with potential employers and get free headshots at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/career-services\">Career Services\u2019<\/a> new one-of-a-kind, centralized space in the Student Union.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 5,700-square-foot Career Hub houses advising offices for career consultants, three conference rooms and a lounge space.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Career Hub staff can assist students with a range of services, including selecting or changing majors, resume building, mock interviews, and finding an internship or a job after graduation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s very exciting,\u201d said Kim Gilliam, Ed.D., director of career education and success. \u201cI would say this is probably one of the nicest career centers definitely in the state of Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students and alumni, as well as faculty and staff, can now get a free professional headshot \u2014 suitable for LinkedIn \u2014 in the hub\u2019s wheelchair-accessible photo booth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt was really easy,\u201d said Camaia Smith, a graduate education leadership student. \u201cIt only took me five minutes or less.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The space has a welcoming vibe with a comfortable leather sofa and chairs for students to hang out. The lounge area also has a gas fireplace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI wanted students to feel like they are walking into a different space,\u201d said Gilliam. \u201cLike they are crossing over from their student selves into that professional journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Career Hub includes several huddle areas where employers can meet with students and conduct in-person interviews.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Career Hub is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in 108 Student Union.
