The wonderful smell of warm flapjacks filled the Apollo Room in the Wright State Student Union as Wright State University promoted Raiderthon during the first-ever Pancakes for Patients fundraiser on Feb. 19.<\/p>\n
The fundraiser was organized by Wright State Miracle Makers, a division of The Children\u2019s Miracle Network, which supports local children\u2019s hospitals.<\/p>\n
Organizers successfully attracted students, faculty and staff to the event with the chance to catch pancakes tossed by Chris Cakes of Ohio, a catering company known for flipping pancakes onto your plate while stand several yards away.<\/p>\n
In return for the free meal, Wright State Miracle Makers encouraged students to donate to and register for Raiderthon, a 12-hour dance marathon scheduled for March 29. Since 2013, Raiderthon has raised more than $500,000 for Dayton Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Raiderthon is the best event ever,\u201d said organizer Ashley Greene, a senior majoring in organizational leadership. \u201cIt combines fun and making a real impact in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event successfully registered 13 participants for Raiderthon and raised $1,225 for Dayton Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n
