A cornerstone of Wright State University\u2019s mission is service to our communities. On March 12, Wright State faculty and staff did just that by volunteering at several community organizations during We Serve U Day.<\/p>\n
Faculty and staff volunteers visited Crayons to Classrooms, the Humane Society, the Foodbank and the Dakota Center and tied blankets on campus for Project Linus.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes you can\u2019t give money, but you can give energy and time to help out,\u201d said Sasha Beard, a tutoring services coordinator who volunteered at the Foodbank.<\/p>\n
We Serve U Day is a day that is approved by the university administration for staff and faculty to volunteer at community nonprofit organizations without using time off.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s wonderful that they are offering staff and employees a chance to volunteer because a lot of employers don\u2019t,\u201d said Beard.<\/p>\n
