Student-athletes and coaches from Wright State University volunteered to help build parts of a new Habitat for Humanity home during a special event organized by the Athletics Department<\/a> on March 30 in Lot 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is saving us about eight weeks of volunteerism on our build site,\u201d said David Mauch, a 1995 Wright State alumnus and development director at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton.<\/p>\n

Over 100 student-athletes from every sport worked in dozens of teams to build all the panels for the future Dayton home.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs athletes, it\u2019s so rewarding to be able to help someone that needs it,\u201d said Ellie Magestro-Kennedy, a sophomore on the women\u2019s basketball team.<\/p>\n

The house, which Mauch dubbed the \u201cRaider Nation Home,\u201d is being built for Charlotte Carter, a Dayton resident, and her children. Carter and her family have volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for over a year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is so important to my family,\u201d said Carter. \u201cWe thank everybody who came out to help us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The build is a collaborative effort between Wright State University, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton and Wright-Patt Credit Union.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
