During the NATO Parliamentary Assembly\u2019s Spring Session in downtown Dayton, Wright State University served as a key support hub, providing meals, housing and secure parking for over 300 public safety officials from across Ohio.<\/p>\n
\u201cWright State is the perfect place to do this at,\u201d said Joseph Weeks, an Ohio State Highway Patrol lieutenant and 2024 alumnus who was happy to return to campus for a few days. \u201cThe resources that are here and the accommodations are fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Officials with the Ohio Department of Public Safety stayed in campus housing for five days and dined in the Student Union Market.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would be willing to say that the last four or five days here at Wright State were the safest this campus has ever been,\u201d said Andy Wilson, Ohio Department of Public Safety director and a 1997 Wright State alumnus. \u201cI\u2019m so proud how my alma mater stepped up to help out for this event.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wright State also provided food and lodging for about 60 members of the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra rehearsed in the Creative Arts Center and performed in a special concert in Schuster Hall on May 27.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great way to collaborate with an artist organization,\u201d said Steven Aldredge, lecturer of music and interim chair of the School of Fine and Performing Arts<\/a>. \u201cWhen you hear that many artists on the stage at the highest level of ability, it really moves you.\u201d<\/p>\n Wilson called the department\u2019s role in the NATO meeting a huge success.
