\"\"<\/a>Wright State University is partnering with Indiana University (IU) in an effort to expand opportunities for students pursuing health care professions. This collaboration aims to prepare graduates for the high-demand health care sector, utilizing unique training offerings from both institutions.<\/p>\n

The newly signed articulation agreement allows students to earn a bachelor’s degree in human life science with a concentration in medical laboratory science by transferring credits and workload between the two universities.<\/p>\n

First, students attend IU East for a three-year foundational study program. The students utilize IU\u2019s equipped chemistry and biology labs, as well as Anatomage virtual dissection tables for realistic 3D anatomy learning through digitized human cadavers.<\/p>\n

In their fourth year, students then transfer to Wright State\u2019s Medical Lab Science certificate program. This involves exploration of clinical skills, such as theory and applications, operating laboratory equipment, diagnostic testing and interpretation of results.<\/p>\n

After two semesters of supervised clinical rotations at an affiliated clinical facility, such as Reid Hospital in Richmond, Ind., students earn a Bachelor of Science in Human Life Science from IU East and a Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science from Wright State.<\/p>\n

\u201cMedical Lab Sciences is a pillar program in the College of Science and Mathematics at Wright State University,\u201d said Ay\u015fe \u015eahin, dean of Wright State\u2019s College of Science and Mathematics. \u201cWe are excited about our partnership with IU East and are eager to welcome the first cohort of IU East medical laboratory science students to Wright State.\u201d<\/p>\n

This partnership positions graduates for in-demand jobs in hospitals, public health and forensic labs, diagnostic centers and research facilities \u2013 a field projected to see a 7.1% increase in local employment by 2030, as reported by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services\u2019 Bureau of Labor Market Information.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe routinely boast a 100% job placement rate of our students within one year of graduation and are proud to be our region\u2019s premier workforce provider for an essential health care career,\u201d \u015eahin said.<\/p>\n
