The chapter includes members from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The video essayist award recognizes excellence by an individual videographer and editor who crafts compelling stories without a reporter, narrator or host.<\/p>\n<p>Sproles was honored for stories he produced for the Wright State Newsroom, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/04\/09\/a-sight-to-see\/\">Wright State\u2019s 2024 solar eclipse celebration<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/03\/07\/designed-delivery\/\">A profile of education major and bowler Alex Drsek<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/06\/12\/students-in-field-school-in-archaeology-excavate-campus-woods-hoping-to-find-evidence-of-wright-states-past\/\">Archaeology students excavating the campus woods<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/12\/17\/wright-state-alum-partners-with-alma-mater-to-brew-a-raider-branded-beer\/\">Launch of Rowdy Blond Ale, a Raider-branded beer<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/07\/19\/ready-to-soar\/\">A spotlight on Wright State\u2019s new aviation program<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2024\/04\/08\/silver-jubilee\/\">The 25th anniversary of ArtsGala<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is the second consecutive year Sproles received a Regional Emmy in this category.<\/p>\n<p>He also received the award for Best Videographer in the Digital Media category in the 2025 Ohio\u2019s Best Journalism Contest.<\/p>\n<p>The award honors the best visual storyteller demonstrating excellence in online videography in spot news, general assignment or specialty reporting.<\/p>\n<p>The judges praised Sproles\u2019 solar eclipse, archaeology and the Raider beer stories as \u201cexcellent demonstrations of dynamic, engaging visual storytelling,\u201d highlighting the stories\u2019 well-timed blend of perspectives and variety of footage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are good examples of self-contained visual stories that are just long enough to keep your interest without losing viewer attention,\u201d the judges said.<\/p>\n<p>The statewide journalism contest was sponsored by the Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists and included entries from media
