{"id":161031,"date":"2025-08-22T12:19:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T16:19:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=161031"},"modified":"2025-08-26T15:55:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T19:55:50","slug":"ready-to-lead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2025\/08\/22\/ready-to-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Ready to lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Scaling ropes, solving challenges and building action plans, nearly 160 Wright State University students spent part of their summer sharpening leadership skills at retreats that prepared them to make a difference on campus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now in its 19th year, the Established Leadership Retreat took place on July 19-21 at Camp Joy in Clarksville, Ohio, bringing returning student leaders together to strengthen relationships and plan for the new academic year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">RaiderCamp, held on Aug. 15-17 on Wright State\u2019s Dayton Campus, welcomed incoming first-year students and helped them discover resources to support their success.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThese students are really our most engaged students,\u201d said Gina Keucher, assistant director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/student-affairs\/student-involvement-and-leadership\">Student Involvement and Leadership<\/a>. \u201cThey really lead our students in great ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Angela Brummett Yates, a first-year student majoring in computer science, signed up for RaiderCamp after deciding to return to college at age 40.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe experience is life-changing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Both retreats consisted of interactive team building and experiential-based activities, workshops and presentations that challenged and engaged students.
