More than 150 high school students from six area high schools explored what it means to become an educator during Wright State University\u2019s fourth annual Future Teachers Day on Oct. 3.<\/p>\n
Throughout the day, students engaged with faculty, staff and current Wright State students to learn about careers in education, college life and why Wright State is the perfect choice for them.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an event that\u2019s pretty well known in the community at this point,\u201d said Bethany Delong, enrollment and retention associate director in the College of Health, Education and Human Services<\/a>. \u201cWe have a lot of repeat schools that look forward to bringing their students every year.\u201d<\/p>\n High school students also participated in several breakout sessions on topics such as Careers in Helping Professions, STEM Education, Active and Healthy Classrooms and Resilience and Self-Care, as well as a question-and-answer session with current Wright State students.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m excited to learn about different career techs, not just about education but all of the ones that fall into education,\u201d said Tesa Buerk, a junior at Stebbins High School.<\/p>\n The free event also included lunch and a tour of campus, giving visiting students a glimpse of what it\u2019s like to be part of the Wright State community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" More than 150 high school students from six area high schools explored what it means to become an educator during Wright State University\u2019s fourth annual Future Teachers Day.
