{"id":162191,"date":"2025-10-10T09:35:05","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T13:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=162191"},"modified":"2025-10-10T09:35:05","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T13:35:05","slug":"dayton-daily-news-wright-states-enrollment-continued-to-tick-upward-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2025\/10\/10\/dayton-daily-news-wright-states-enrollment-continued-to-tick-upward-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Dayton Daily News: Wright State\u2019s\u00a0enrollment continued to tick upward this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2025\/10\/10\/dayton-daily-news-wright-states-enrollment-continued-to-tick-upward-this-year\/250819-01_3-fall-class-w-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-162195\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-162195\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2025\/10\/250819-01_3-Fall-Class-W-508x339.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"307\" \/><\/a>Despite experiencing a decline in international students, Wright State University\u2019s enrollment continued to tick upward this year, following the last two years of increased enrollment overall.<\/p>\n<p>Wright State officials announced this fall\u2019s headcount was 11,924 students across both the Lake Campus in Mercer County and the main campus in Fairborn, up from last fall\u2019s 11,822 students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are tremendous numbers,\u201d said Susan Schaurer, vice president for enrollment management and student success. \u201cCertainly, they\u2019re buoyed by our impressive retention strategies that we\u2019ve implemented over the last several years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Undergraduate enrollment at Wright State University rose to 7,963 students this fall, a 4.7% increase from last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe momentum we are experiencing and the positive energy related to Wright State\u2019s future are noticeable, and that feels promising,\u201d said Wright State University President Sue Edwards.<\/p>\n<p>But the university, like many throughout the country, saw a decrease in the number of new international students. Overall, new, undergraduate international student enrollment fell by about 11%, according to Wright State numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Other public Ohio universities have gotten fewer international students than Wright State, Schaurer said.<\/p>\n<p>Other universities have announced budget cuts due to fewer international students.
