{"id":162456,"date":"2025-10-23T09:23:26","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T13:23:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=162456"},"modified":"2025-10-23T09:34:41","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T13:34:41","slug":"four-wright-state-nursing-programs-receive-accreditations-including-new-doctorate-degree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2025\/10\/23\/four-wright-state-nursing-programs-receive-accreditations-including-new-doctorate-degree\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Wright State nursing programs receive accreditations, including new doctorate degree"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_162464\" style=\"width: 470px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2025\/10\/23\/four-wright-state-nursing-programs-receive-accreditations-including-new-doctorate-degree\/nursing-simulation-lab-2025\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-162464\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-162464\" class=\"size-large wp-image-162464\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2025\/10\/Nursing-simulation-lab-2025-508x339.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"307\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-162464\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Four programs offered by Wright State\u2019s School of Nursing, including the bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degree programs and the new Doctor of Nursing Practice program, have been reaccredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Wright State University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/health-education-human-services.wright.edu\/nursing\">School of Nursing<\/a> has reinforced its reputation as a premier nursing education destination by securing renewed \u2014 and in one case, new \u2014 accreditations across its comprehensive program offerings.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education granted accreditation to four programs in the School of Nursing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/health-education-human-services.wright.edu\/nursing\/prelicensure-bachelor-of-science-in-nursing\">Baccalaureate degree program<\/a>, for 10 years<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree program, for 10 years<\/li>\n<li>Post-graduate Advanced Practice Registered certificate program, for 10 years<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/health-education-human-services.wright.edu\/nursing\/doctor-of-nursing-practice\">New Doctor of Nursing Practice program<\/a>, for five years, the maximum length for a new program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe accreditation process ensures that Wright State\u2019s nursing program meets quality standards and provides a high standard of education and training,\u201d said Tara Konicki, Ph.D., clinical assistant professor and chair of the School of Nursing.<\/p>\n<p>These accreditations are significant because they enable graduates to sit for licensure examinations and pursue advanced nursing degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Wright State has arrangements with Premier Health, Kettering Health and Dayton Children\u2019s Hospital that allow nursing students to work on site with a preceptor during their final semester through contingency-hire arrangements that often lead to employment upon graduation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a good working relationship with the local health care community,\u201d Konicki said.<\/p>\n<p>Nursing is the most popular major at Wright State. About 400 students major in nursing, with 300 to 400 more taking prerequisite courses required to enroll in the program.
