{"id":162997,"date":"2025-12-04T15:36:23","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T20:36:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=162997"},"modified":"2025-12-04T15:36:23","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T20:36:23","slug":"wright-state-police-department-delivers-major-donation-to-raider-food-pantry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2025\/12\/04\/wright-state-police-department-delivers-major-donation-to-raider-food-pantry\/","title":{"rendered":"Wright State Police Department delivers major donation to Raider Food Pantry"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Wright State University police officers rolled up to the Student Union on Nov. 25 with cruisers packed full of groceries for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/student-affairs\/resources-and-support\/raider-food-pantry\">Raider Food Pantry<\/a>, delivering $2,000 worth of soup, cereal, peanut butter crackers, bottled water and other essentials purchased during their annual No-Shave November fundraiser.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>For the seventh consecutive year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/public-safety\/police\">Wright State University Police Department<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"> used the <\/span>No-Shave November campaign to support students facing food insecurity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Every officer and staff member donated $100 for the opportunity to grow their facial hair, wear colorful hair accessories or paint their nails throughout November.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cEvery year seems to get bigger and better,\u201d said Kurt Holden, chief of police and director of public safety at Wright State. \u201cIt\u2019s for a really good cause.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Capt. Chad Oleyar was voted as the staff member with the best-looking beard by his colleagues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Oleyar said the department is proud to help ensure students have access to food when they need it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe really enjoy this every year,\u201d said Oleyar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"attachment_163004\" style=\"width: 470px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?attachment_id=163004\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-163004\" class=\"wp-image-163004 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2025\/12\/pic445460-508x286.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"259\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-163004\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Police Officer Gianni Parise, left, and Capt. Chad Oleyar stacking donated food items in the Raider Food Pantry.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Over the past seven years, the Police Department has donated more than $18,000 in groceries and money to the Raider Food Pantry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Eric Corbitt, dean of students, said 40% of Wright State students experience food insecurity, making campus partnerships essential.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cRaiders show up and the Police Department have shown up time and time again for our students,\u201d said Corbitt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Wright State Raider Food Pantry provides emergency food assistance to any student enrolled in classes for the current term.
