Wright State University students will dance, play games and rally for 12 hours during Raiderthon, a student-led dance marathon<\/a> that raises funds for Dayton Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n

Raiderthon takes place Saturday, March 28, from noon to midnight in the Student Union\u2019s Apollo Room on Wright State\u2019s Dayton Campus.<\/p>\n

Now in its 13th year, Raiderthon hopes to raise at least $50,000 to support children and families served by Dayton Children\u2019s Hospital. Over the past 12 years, Wright State students have raised more than $550,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cRaiderthon continues to resonate with students because it offers a unique opportunity to give back, build connections, and be part of something bigger than themselves,\u201d said Alyssa Zizelman, a physiology and neuroscience major who serves as executive director of Miracle Makers.<\/p>\n

Organized by the student organization Miracle Makers, Raiderthon marks the culmination of yearlong fundraising efforts by the Miracle Makers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most meaningful moments happen throughout the year leading up to the big event, said Gina Keucher, associate director of leadership and community engagement at Wright State, who serves as the group\u2019s advisor. \u201cWorking with students as they plan this event and others throughout the year, it\u2019s rewarding to watch them grow as leaders \u2014 and to celebrate with them when they reveal the final fundraising total.\u201d<\/p>\n

Funds raised by Miracle Makers will help Dayton Children\u2019s Hospital support critical programs, life-saving treatments, equipment and patient care initiatives, while reducing barriers for families with the greatest need.<\/p>\n

Raiderthon will highlight the stories of six \u201cMiracle Kids\u201d and their families, who will attend and share their experiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the most meaningful moments each year is hearing from Miracle Families and seeing the direct impact of our efforts. It\u2019s a powerful reminder of why we do what we do,\u201d Zizelman said.<\/p>\n

Throughout the 12-hour dance marathon, students will take part in a variety of activities and traditions designed to keep energy high and encourage giving. Highlights include musical chairs, lip-sync battles, Zumba, a \u201cpie in the face\u201d fundraiser and a \u201cTime Out Corner\u201d challenge. The evening concludes with a silent disco, a rave hour and the much-anticipated reveal of the fundraising total at midnight.<\/p>\n

Community sponsors, including 7 Brew, Marion\u2019s Pizza and Nothing Bundt Cakes, will also join the celebration. During the 2 p.m. hour, 7 Brew will provide free energy drinks and a special surprise for participants.<\/p>\n
