The Wright State University women\u2019s bowling<\/a> team continues to build momentum in just its third season as an NCAA Division I program, positioning itself among the nation\u2019s emerging contenders.<\/p>\n

This season, the Raiders climbed into the national top 10 rankings, reaching as high as ninth in the coaches poll and earning a ninth-place spot in the NCAA Rating Percentage Index. The team also remained in the conversation for an NCAA Tournament bid deep into the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always crazy to think we\u2019re on a nationally ranked team,\u201d said Emma Hatfield, a junior bowler and elementary education major.<\/p>\n

A couple of unfortunate outings in the Conference USA Tournament cut the Raiders\u2019 successful season short.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey love winning,\u201d said head coach Jeff Fleck, who\u2019s in his 21st season with Wright State\u2019s women\u2019s bowling program. \u201cThey have the it factor. They have grit and determination and swagger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fleck said the team has exceeded his expectations and, with a roster full of juniors, should be well prepared for a postseason run next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing from where the program was our freshmen year and how we\u2019ve gotten so much better up until this point, and I\u2019m really excited to see what our senior year holds,\u201d said Hatfield.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
