{"id":165200,"date":"2026-04-22T15:15:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T19:15:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=165200"},"modified":"2026-04-23T09:16:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T13:16:14","slug":"local-vibes-wins-wright-state-entrepreneurial-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2026\/04\/22\/local-vibes-wins-wright-state-entrepreneurial-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Local Vibes wins Wright State entrepreneurial competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">A QR-based platform that helps students discover trending spots, real-time deals and social connections near campus earned the top prize at Wright State University\u2019s annual Wright Venture competition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Five Wright State University students pitched original business ideas to a panel of experts \u2014 and competed for $5,000 in startup funding \u2014 during\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/event\/wright-venture\">Wright Venture<\/a>, the annual entrepreneurial competition hosted by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/business.wright.edu\/\">Raj Soin College of Business<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event took place on Wednesday, April 15, in the Rike Hall Lobby with<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aeshani Kumar, a graduate student in <a href=\"https:\/\/business.wright.edu\/supply-chain-management-marketing-and-management\/master-of-science-in-marketing-analytics-and-insights\">marketing analytics and insights<\/a>, won $5,000 in startup funding for her business concept, Local Vibes, after pitching to a panel of industry experts on April 15 in the Rike Hall Lobby.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWright State makes sure that every student has the platform to really push their ambitions and take it forward,\u201d said Kumar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Modeled after the reality television program \u201cShark Tank,\u201d Wright Venture gives students in an opportunity to present original business plans to a panel of experienced executives, called the Wolves, who evaluate each idea and provide feedback. This year\u2019s judges were Lesley Ott, chief operating officer at James Investment Research; Jonah Sandler, founder and president of Escena Investments; Beth Savage, former owner and CEO of PQ Systems; and Jason Trimbach, chief executive officer at Beyond the Barrier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The five finalists were selected from 27 applications \u2014 more than double last year\u2019s pool, highlighting growing interest in entrepreneurship across the university.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The other Wright Venture finalists were:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>AccioFirst, an AI career platform that helps job seekers identify legitimate employment opportunities. Presented by computer science alum Gokulnaath Govindaraj.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>Blockhelp, a neighborhood-based digital marketplace that connects trusted teens with homeowners for services such as tutoring, yard work and childcare. Presented by finance major Lilly Willmann.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>FieldHive, a civic communication platform through which municipalities and public agencies can share emergency alerts, public safety updates and information. Presented by business major Jason Atkins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>Pulse, an AI-driven marketing agency that produces social media and lead-generation content for small businesses. Presented by marketing analytics and insights grad student Anupom Saikot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reaching the finals required more than a good idea.
