{"id":165906,"date":"2026-05-27T11:55:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T15:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=165906"},"modified":"2026-05-27T11:55:31","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T15:55:31","slug":"david-shoop-turns-wright-state-values-into-a-powerful-legal-career","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2026\/05\/27\/david-shoop-turns-wright-state-values-into-a-powerful-legal-career\/","title":{"rendered":"David Shoop turns Wright State values into a powerful legal career"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>David Shoop \u201997 has spent his legal career holding major manufacturers accountable for dangerous products, recovering hundreds of millions of dollars for injured consumers and helping remove hundreds of thousands of defective products from the marketplace \u2014 work that has earned the Wright State University grad the 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/liberal-arts.wright.edu\/\">College of Liberal Arts<\/a> Outstanding Alumnus Award.<\/p>\n<p>After serving on active duty in the United States Army, Shoop returned to his hometown of Dayton and became the first in his family to attend college. He earned a <a href=\"https:\/\/liberal-arts.wright.edu\/social-sciences-and-international-studies\/bachelor-of-arts-in-political-science\">bachelor\u2019s degree in political science<\/a> from Wright State University, graduating magna cum laude, before earning his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.<\/p>\n<p>Shoop said his experience at Wright State laid the foundation for everything that followed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWright State has affected my life and my career in so many positive ways,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s this work ethic it instills in you. It\u2019s the dedication. It\u2019s not taking any shortcuts, and that\u2019s what I take from my Wright State experience, and those are still principles that I apply in my practice today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shoop is the founder of Shoop | A Professional Law Corporation in Beverly Hills, which recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. His firm focuses on product liability and medical device litigation and has achieved some of the largest verdicts and settlements in California.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_165920\" style=\"width: 470px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2026\/05\/27\/david-shoop-turns-wright-state-values-into-a-powerful-legal-career\/260206-alumni-achievement-awards-11\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-165920\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-165920\" class=\"size-large wp-image-165920\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2026\/05\/David-Shoop-260206_2982_Alumni-Achievement-Awards_web2-508x339.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"307\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-165920\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Shoop \u201997 was honored as the 2026 College of Liberal Arts Outstanding Alumnus. (Photo by Erin Pence)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe have a pretty incredible track record with respect to some of the largest verdicts and settlements in California,\u201d Shoop said. \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly proud to represent our clients effectively and with diligence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shoop said the most meaningful accomplishment of his career is that his firm\u2019s work has directly contributed to the recall of hundreds of thousands of dangerous and defective products, helping prevent injuries and save lives. His team has driven changes in product design, warnings and manufacturing practices across multiple industries.<\/p>\n<p>For Shoop, Wright State was more than a place to earn a degree.
