\"\"<\/a><\/strong>Moody\u2019s Investors Service has revised Wright State University\u2019s outlook to positive from stable while affirming its A2 issuer and debt ratings, reflecting continued progress in enrollment growth, financial performance and strategic partnerships.<\/p>\n

This is the fourth positive ratings action Wright State has received in the last five years. Moody\u2019s upgraded the university\u2019s rating from Baa2 to Baa1 in 2021, from Baa1 to A3 in 2023 and from A3 to A2 in 2024. The revised positive outlook marks another step in that progression.<\/p>\n

Moody\u2019s Ratings, a global credit rating agency, provides independent assessments of credit risk and evaluates the financial strength and creditworthiness of organizations worldwide.<\/p>\n

The outlook revision follows Moody\u2019s assessment of Wright State\u2019s financial profile, governance practices and operating environment. Moody\u2019s considers a range of factors when evaluating an organization\u2019s credit outlook, including its financial position, management practices and ability to navigate changing conditions.<\/p>\n

The positive outlook recognizes Wright State\u2019s success in strengthening its position in a challenging higher education environment through disciplined financial management, growing student demand and innovative partnerships with regional employers and healthcare organizations. Moody\u2019s cited the university\u2019s improving enrollment trends, affordable market position and demonstrated ability to adapt its operating model to support long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudents and families want to know that the university they have chosen is academically excellent, financially strong and positioned for long-term success,\u201d said Wright State University President Sue Edwards. \u201cMoody\u2019s decision to revise our outlook from stable to positive reinforces confidence in Wright State\u2019s financial trajectory. That stability allows the university to advance our mission of serving the region\u2019s students \u2014 not just today, but for generations to come. As one of the Miami Valley\u2019s leading economic drivers, we will continue to prepare our graduates not only to be workforce ready, but also to become leaders in the communities in which they live and work.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Moody\u2019s assessment is one of several indicators of Wright State\u2019s financial health.<\/p>\n

The university concluded fiscal year 2025 with a Senate Bill 6 composite score of 5.0, the highest score possible under Ohio\u2019s financial health reporting system for public universities. This was the third consecutive year Wright State received a score of 5.0.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, these independent assessments reflect the stability Wright State has built and its ability to move forward with confidence as higher education continues to evolve,\u201d said Greg Sample, executive vice president and chief operating officer. \u201cThe positive outlook recognizes the progress we have made and the thoughtful decisions that have strengthened our position. It allows us to remain focused on aligning resources with the needs of our students and communities as we continue moving Wright State in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andy Platt, chair of Wright State\u2019s Finance, Audit, Governance and Compliance Committee, highlighted the thoughtful work of Wright State\u2019s administration and the importance of strong financial stewardship in supporting the university\u2019s continued progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoody\u2019s recognition reflects years of careful work by the administration in partnership with the Board of Trustees to strengthen Wright State\u2019s financial position,\u201d Platt said. \u201cThe Finance Committee remains committed to responsible oversight and sound financial stewardship that supports the university\u2019s long-term strength and sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raj Kejriwal, chair of the Wright State Board of Trustees, said the positive outlook reflects confidence in the university\u2019s direction and future.<\/p>\n
