{"id":168424,"date":"2026-08-25T09:55:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T13:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=168424"},"modified":"2026-08-25T09:55:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T13:55:17","slug":"futbol-is-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2026\/08\/25\/futbol-is-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Futbol is life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eight former players from Wright State University\u2019s original <a href=\"https:\/\/wsuraiders.com\/sports\/mens-soccer\">men\u2019s soccer<\/a> team visited Alumni Field on Aug. 14 to reminisce about the game they love and connect with current players and coaches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe were actually a club team in 1966 and then became a university team in \u201966\u201367,\u201d said Bill Sinclair, a former player who went on to play professionally and coach after graduating from Wright State in 1971.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The returning players spoke to the current men\u2019s soccer team, sharing stories about their experiences at Wright State and reflecting on how they have remained close decades after graduation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOne of the definitions of success that we talk about is, are you on the text chain 10 years from now?\u201d said head men\u2019s soccer coach Alex Van der Sluijs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">After visiting with the team, Sinclair and fellow soccer alumni Michael Rado, Dave Wiles, Dayton Kort, John Holoviak, Fred Kreuzer, Ed Mathes and Doug Karl joined current players for a group photo near Alumni Field.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s not just an experience when you come to the university for two or three years.
