{"id":169344,"date":"2026-09-29T08:53:59","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T12:53:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=169344"},"modified":"2026-09-29T08:53:59","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T12:53:59","slug":"10th-annual-wright-day-to-give-scheduled-for-sept-30-and-oct-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2026\/09\/29\/10th-annual-wright-day-to-give-scheduled-for-sept-30-and-oct-1\/","title":{"rendered":"10th annual Wright Day to Give scheduled for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2026\/09\/29\/10th-annual-wright-day-to-give-scheduled-for-sept-30-and-oct-1\/wdtg-giving-2026\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-169361\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-169361\" src=\"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/files\/2026\/09\/WDTG-Giving-2026-508x230.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a>Wright State University will host its 10th annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wright.edu\/event\/wright-day-to-give\">Wright Day to Give<\/a> on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and Wednesday, Oct. 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, we are reaching a special milestone and celebrating the impact of our donors since the first Wright Day to Give in 2017,\u201d said Amy Jones, director of annual giving. \u201cThe generosity of our Wright State alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends has continued to grow over the years. Whether you\u2019re making your first gift or your 10th gift to Wright Day to Give, we are grateful to each and every one of you who have stepped up and given back on this special day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the first Wright Day to Give in 2017, 548 donors contributed $47,000. In 2025, $235,000 was contributed by 1,010 donors. Since its inception, Wright Day to Give has raised more than $1.4 million for scholarships, programs and athletics. Gifts have come from individuals throughout the United States and from as far away as Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Norway and Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>Wright Day to Give donors are encouraged to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.givecampus.com\/s\/j0opcj\">Give Back to the Pack<\/a>\u201d by supporting the area of campus that is most meaningful to them. Whether it\u2019s academics or athletics, student scholarships or student success initiatives, every gift makes a difference in the life of a Wright State student.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Wright Day to Give will launch with official kickoff events on Wednesday, Sept. 30, near the Dayton and Lake Campuses. Wright State alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends are welcome to stop by Southern Ohio Brewing in Beavercreek between 5 and 7 p.m. or Moeller Brew Barn in Maria Stein between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Guests will be able to enjoy appetizers and participate in raffles and giveaways.<\/p>\n<p>When 250 people attend the kickoff events and 250 gifts are made by 7 p.m. on Sept. 30, a $2,500 gift will be unlocked from Wright-Patt Credit Union.<\/p>\n<p>A variety of other challenges and incentives will be offered throughout the Wright Day to Give to encourage participation, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>College Alumni Participation Challenge: <\/strong>When alumni make a donation to any fund that they are passionate about, the college they graduated from will receive credit toward the College Alumni Challenge. The college with the most alumni donors will earn $5,000 for their college, thanks to a gift from Anna Jones Monnett \u201983,\u201987.<\/li>\n<li><strong>First-Time Donor Incentive: <\/strong>First-time donors who make a minimum gift of $19.67 will receive a Wright State University pennant to display in their home or office. Pennants will be given to the first 175 new donors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>GradX\/Student Donor Unlock: <\/strong>Michael \u201997 and Michelle Mathile will unlock a $10,000 gift as soon as 150 graduates of the last decade and\/or student donors have made gifts on the Wright Day to Give.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Mathile family offered a similar challenge in 2025, which created the Rely on a Raider\/Lean on a Laker fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiving is a habit, and the best time to start it is early. That\u2019s why we are offering this challenge gift again for Wright Day to Give, to encourage current students and recent graduates to make their first gift or their next one,\u201d said Mike Mathile. \u201cWright State gave me a strong start, and I\u2019ve never stopped being grateful for it. Whatever amount you give, you\u2019re helping the next Raider get that same start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the Mathiles launched the Rely on a Raider\/Lean on a Laker fund, nearly $7,000 has been awarded to 40 Wright State students to purchase textbooks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am incredibly grateful to the donors of the Rely on a Raider\/Lean on a Laker Fund for helping students who have exhausted all aid afford the textbooks they need. Access to required course materials is critical to academic success, and for many students, an unexpected expense can create significant financial stress and even affect their ability to stay enrolled,\u201d said Catherine Hernandez Hogan, assistant vice provost of academic engagement. \u201cWhat I value most about this fund is that it provides tangible support at a moment when students need it most. It helps bridge a financial gap so students can keep going further in their studies. That commitment reflects what I admire about Wright State \u2014 we want every student to have access not only to an affordable, high-quality education, but also to the resources they need to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Health sciences major Myah Costantino-Dra\u017eeti\u0107 is one of the students who received much-needed support from the fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the summer, my family faced financial burdens that affected my future at Wright State. I truly thought I would have to go without textbooks for my Fall Semester, even if they were required for my classes,\u201d she said. \u201cReceiving that approval letter took so much anxiety and stress off of me. Going from worrying about how I would get a complete education this fall to succeeding in my classes has meant so much to me. It has also helped ease my mom\u2019s worries about my education and the financial stress our family was facing. I am truly grateful for the support Wright State provided when I needed it most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Wright Day to Give approaches its 10th year, Jones hopes to continue the upward trajectory of donor participation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always hope to top the previous year, but this 10-year milestone is even more special,\u201d said Jones. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen the impact of this annual giving day on our students through the Rely on a Raider\/Lean on a Laker textbook fund and so many other scholarships and programs that continue to grow, thanks to the generosity of our donors.
