{"id":17565,"date":"2012-11-19T10:16:29","date_gmt":"2012-11-19T14:16:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/?p=17565"},"modified":"2012-11-19T10:16:29","modified_gmt":"2012-11-19T14:16:29","slug":"calamityville-prepares-medics-for-worst-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webapp2.wright.edu\/web1\/newsroom\/2012\/11\/19\/calamityville-prepares-medics-for-worst-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Calamityville prepares medics for \u2018worst day\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>((Excerpt))<\/p>\n<p>The National Center for Medical Readiness at Calamityville became fully operational this week with the launch of the site\u2019s first training course and first technical training zone.<\/p>\n<p>About 20 U.S. Air Force medics and civilian paramedics participated in the inaugural three-day course, which on Friday required a number of them to wade through waist-high water to rescue trapped passengers drowning in a rolled-over, submerged armored vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur vision here for training is preparing the health care professional for their worst day,\u201d said James Gruenberg, Calamityville\u2019s deputy director.<\/p>\n<p>Calamityville is a 54-acre site operated by Wright State University at the former CEMEX plant at 506 E.
