The Ten Top Women of 2012 were recognized at a <em>Dayton Daily News\u2013<\/em>hosted luncheon on Dec. 4 at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a thrill to be named to the <em>Dayton Daily News <\/em>Ten Top Women Class of 2012,\u201d said Pringle.<em> \u201c<\/em>It\u2019s gratifying to be reminded that the community values the important day-to-day work we do at Wright State<em>.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pringle teaches a wide variety of courses including introductory English, writing, contemporary fiction and women\u2019s studies.<\/p>\n<p>She contributed to the establishment of the Wright State Women\u2019s Studies program and the university\u2019s Women\u2019s Center. She also chaired a research project that helped bring salary equality to female faculty in comparison to their male peers.<\/p>\n<p>The group of Pringle\u2019s colleagues who nominated her for the Ten Top Women said she has made \u201cwide-ranging and profoundly influential contributions . . . to improving the lives of women in the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pringle is the author of <em>Sex Roles in Literature<\/em>, <em>The Image of the Prostitute in Modern Literature, John Grisham: A Critical Companion, Approaches to Teaching Virginia Woolf\u2019s \u2018To the Lighthouse\u2019<\/em> and <em>Revisiting John Grisham: A Critical Companion<\/em>, along with numerous book chapters and scholarly articles.<\/p>\n<p>Pringle has taught English at Wright State since 1975. She taught previously at the University of Denver, Southwest Missouri State University, Iowa State University and the University of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology and a master\u2019s degree in English from the University of Denver.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Pringle, two of this year\u2019s Ten Top Women have Wright State connections.
